      Mobile RFID asset management includes many applications such as vehicle tracking and may or may not include GPS systems. Pallet management firms offer pallet pooling with RFID-enabled pallets to gain automated tracking benefits. Applications like these enable organizations to lower their asset base and to realize cost savings. 

 

      In warehouse and shipping functions, RFID tags or labels on pallets, cylinders, and other shipping containers may be automatically read at the dock door as they leave with an outgoing shipment. By matching the information captured at the read point with specific shipment information in a database, manufacturers build a record of what specific shipping containers were sent to each customer. manufactureres use the data to document cycle times, improve returns and recoveries, and aid in disputes with customers regarding lost or damaged assets. 

By tracking what assets are being used, where they are used, when they are used, how 
they are used, and who is using them, companies get a better handle on asset utilization. Tracking assets and their usage factors can lead to improved asset utilizations and to reduced expenditures on critical assets.
